Shelter fundraiser could land winner in front row centre seat at Adams concert

Interlake Spectator — A unique raffle for the Gimli Animal Shelter may just put you and a friend in the front row for the January concert of Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams.
With a little luck, eh.
Adams will be on-stage at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg Jan. 11.
In addition to two front row centre seats at the concert, the winner will receive a DVD of Bryan Adams Live at the Budokan in Japan, five music CDs and two logo T-shirts.
“Every penny raised in this fundraiser goes to the animal shelter,” said Linda Vermeullen, who with her husband Ron own Mermaid’s Kiss Gallery in Gimli. Mermaid’s Kiss is spearheading the fundraising push.
Tickets, at $5 apiece or three for $10, are available at Mermaid’s Kiss Gallery, H.P. Tergesen and Sons, Amma’s Tearoom, Gimli Credit Union and the shelter.
Draw date is Dec. 22 -- so tickets make a perfect Christmas gift, too.
There is a Gimli connection with Adams, as both Linda and Ron Vermeullen worked with the Canadian rocker when Adams was coming into his own
Linda shot photographs for the Vancouver Sun and Georgia Strait. She also shot album covers for Elvis Costello, Cheap Trick and Adams.
Ron and Linda met at Expo ’86 in Vancouver -- and Adams was their ironic connection. Adams is now a Canadian music icon, but back in the late-70s he was an emerging talent.
Ron met Adams in 1978.
Adams was lead singer for Sweeney Todd, having taken the place of Nick Gilder who had headed south to the United States on the heels of the success of “Hot Child in the City”.
